This Friday was filled with opportunities for community building and collaboration! ✨We kicked off the morning with our first INDSTRY: Creative Talks Speaker Series featuring Glenfield Payne, Supervising Sound Editor and Re-Recording Mixer, alongside Guadalupe Cardona, Ethnic Studies Educator and Roybal Magnet Coordinator. ✨Throughout the day, students and staff celebrated National Coming Out Day with pride, displaying stickers and flags. ✨As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, we welcomed documentary filmmaker Aristedes Falcon Paradi for a live Q&A on his film Rumba Clave Clave. ✨We wrapped up the evening with a heartwarming screening of Coco with our friends and family! 🎥✨ Behind the scenes at today’s NYC Public Schools Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at the historic Tweed Courthouse in Downtown Manhattan! Our talented Motion Picture Tech students, alongside their incredible film teacher Ms. Gutierrez, captured every moment of the event. They received real-time mentorship from Christian Fernandez and the amazing NYCPS Media/Content Creation Team, who even loaned us an extra SONY camera for the shoot! 🎬 We were also thrilled to collaborate with the gifted visual artists from The High School of Art & Design, thanks to Principal Maximillian Re-Sugiura. And a highlight of the day? Our very own Principal Lopez had the honor of meeting the incoming Chancellor, Melissa Aviles-Ramos, for the first time! 🙌 Today’s event showcased exactly what our MPT students are all about—applying the technical, creative, and professional skills they’re learning in the classroom to real-world projects. Today, we welcomed back @wlab.xr to continue training our afternoon film students on the latest in virtual production technology. Tommy and Ziva from the WLab team provided hands-on sessions, covering everything from directing and camera operation to some acting in between—all centered around a cutting-edge LED Volume Wall. It was fantastic to see our students fully engaged in hands-on learning and reflecting on how these skills will benefit their future productions. #VirtualProduction #VolumeWall #CTE
