Kevin Lopez is the Founding Principal of Motion Picture Technical High School, an innovative Film/CTE institution in NYC that prepares students for creative and technical careers in Film and Television. With over 15 years of experience in Media Arts Education and Film Production, Kevin has developed programs that integrate industry practices with academic rigor. His producing credits include acclaimed films such as HBO’s The Inquisition of Camilo Sanz and Primera, as well as the SXSW-selected documentary LA SALSA VIVE, showcasing his dedication to diverse storytelling.
At Motion Picture Tech, Kevin oversees a four-year, project-based curriculum combining Media Arts/CTE with academics, enabling students to earn an Advanced Regents Diploma and CTE Endorsement. The school empowers diverse students to build creative and technical skills while accessing real-world opportunities, preparing them for higher education and professional success. With a mission to transform the entertainment industry, Motion Picture Tech nurtures the next generation of below-the-line professionals. The school is ideal for aspiring filmmakers who thrive in collaborative environments and are passionate about artistic innovation and authentic storytelling.

Rachael G. Sullivan (she/her)
Founding Assistant Principal, Interim Acting, Motion Picture Technical High School
Rachael G. Sullivan brings over 20 years of educational experience, global teaching, and a lifelong commitment to the arts to her role as Assistant Principal at Motion Picture Technical High School in Woodside, Queens. In her first year at MPT, she has played a key role in shaping the school’s academic and creative culture through collaborative leadership and a deep commitment to student success. A lifelong educator, AP Sullivan spent two decades teaching English as a New Language and served as an ENL Coordinator for 10 years. Her passion for language and cross-cultural learning has taken her abroad, including study at the Universidad de León in Spain and teaching at the Nanjing Foreign Language School in China. She was recognized as a Pear Deck Inspirational Educator (2020–2023) and nominated for the Big Apple Teacher Award in 2018.
Beyond the classroom, AP Sullivan has explored storytelling and performance through media and music. She worked as an on-air personality at Long Island’s 106.1 BLI, developed an appreciation for behind-the-scenes filmmaking, and continues to perform as a trained oboist with the Kings County Concert Band. With a unique blend of global experience, artistic sensibility, and instructional leadership, Rachael Sullivan is proud to serve the MPT community and inspire students to see the power of learning, language, and storytelling in every medium.
